SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 50

Congratulating Marc Kimes, Parkersburg High School quarterback, for
winning the 2001 Kennedy Award.

Whereas, The Kennedy Award, West Virginia's high school
version of the Heisman Trophy, is awarded each year in balloting by
members of the West Virginia Sports Writers Association; and

Whereas, Marc Kimes led the Parkersburg High School Big Reds
football team to the 2001 Class AAA championship; and

Whereas, As quarterback for Parkersburg High School, the 6-
foot, 195-pound Marc Kimes completed 106 of 199 passes for 1,932
yards and 18 touchdowns. He was also the team's leading rusher
with 771 yards on 118 carries; and

Whereas, An excellent kicker, Marc Kimes averaged 36.3 yards
per punt; and

Whereas, Marc Kimes is the third recipient of the Kennedy
Award from Parkersburg High School. He joins former Big Reds stars
Jim Earley, who won the award in 1950, and Jim Bargeloh, who won in
1957; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby congratulates Marc Kimes for winning
the prestigious 2001 Kennedy Award; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby congratulates Marc Kimes for helping to bring the Class AAA championship home to
Parkersburg; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to Marc Kimes, 2001 Kennedy Award
recipient.
